Let's get a thread goin with a picture of each class and designation, along with a brief description... I'll start this week with the picturs I've got, I'll need some descriptions though.

I have some ancient stuff from when I was a kid with a 110 camera. I have to go through my albums and start scanning. I have some recent pics of a few of the A/ND teams too. Opel pics...ya think? I just received an email yesterday with a scan of a Norwalk Raceway Park program cover from 1977. The Opel was still a CC/A...how's that for timing, Jean?

Very good timing indeed. Very cool Dawn. :D

I just happen to have pictures of a couple A/EA cars some may remember too. ;) First one is at OCIR in 1977 testing for the points meet.

You too Dawn, good stuff. Here's another Opel for everyone. Larry's C/A way back when... :D

Love the shot of Sigmon, Jean!

It's interesting to note that there were only 20 classes in Comp in 1979.

Good stuff Dawn. I was wondering how many Opel's I was going to have to post, to prime the pump.;) Being an older guy, I loved racing back then. :D Of course you were just a baby back then. ;)

Yup, Phil and I were up for best appearing cars, at Irwindale points meet. We both had just come out with our new rides back then. Wish I had mine now, would be fun for the CHRR stuff. :) I'm hoping to go this year, we'll see.
seeing the cartoon reminded me of this favorite of mine too.

Remaining true to my 'blower snob' roots, here's a shot of Steve Woods' former BB/GS '48 Prefect. (I think he was back-to-back Winternationals champ '71-'72...help me out, Jean) He competed with this in the Goodguys VRA AA/Supercharged class until 2005, winning multiple championships along the way. 2001 Goodguys Nitro Nationals -Sears Point Raceway-Mark Hovsepian Photo

I would like to give a HUUUUUUGGGGEEEE thank you for those posting pics of comp cars from the past! I am not old enough to have any memory of the comp cars from the 80s or earlier. My first NHRA national event was back in Englishtown 1988. My parents have the old pictures from that event. The next time I visit my parents, I will try to look to see if any comp cars appear in that set. To everyone else posting pics, please keep them coming! I am also interested in purchasing old home videos from the 90s or older. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any available that you wish to share. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad your enjoying them. Here's a few more. :)

Here's Ed Sigmon again, but later on mid-late 70's.Ran A/EA with it awhile.

Sigmon had some beautiful cars. Interesting to spot the lack of safety gear worn/mandated in the Roadster. Pair of jeans, no gloves, light jacket, and probably just a pair of tennis shoes.

Here's a couple more...
