pomona dq

All I know is it screwed Brandon out of his bye run. He worked extremely hard to get it and now nothing. They should have just gave whoever was to run the guy who got dq'd a bye... not rearrange the ladder AFTER qualifying.

Mark, rules are rules. If they kept it like it was it would not be fair to Mettler and his opponent as they would have to race Hugger clean in the second round.

As I understand it the reason he was DQ was because he got in a heated argument with Nhra because they wanted to check the cid of his engine but did not have the proper pump or tools to do it and wanted him to pull the head instead. He should have never yelled at Nhra BUT Nhra should have the proper tools to pump every engine in the class the same way..... just my opinion.

Why did they want to pump him? Was not even the fastest in class.

Only .515 under also. National event, no records.

So what freak-a-zoid combo does Ross have that could not be pumped??.. I must be missing something..

OR.. did they just want the head, without pumping the motor.. seen that before..

we had that problem in div one the engines are to big it happen to either Dave Huges or Freddy Gallo and im sure they bought there own pump and nhra has it under lock and key

im sure they do mabee something was wrong with it or mabee they pump it and was to big and they wanted a head off those pumps are dead on on the small engines its all he said she said

The pump is hugely limited , 16 V batteries have screwed up the cranking results , 700 cu. in. motors have done the same , we had a 351 cu. in. 6 cyl and the pump caused us more trouble than we thought possible . The pump and it's inaccuracy resulted in us pulling the head when there was no reason....one more reason , Comp is so tough , it's not for everyone....

It happened with Fred Gallo at Maple Grove. However, since Dave has set the A/A record since then, the D1 people have the right tools. I know checking the cid on our four-valve is a pain in the butt in terms of work.

yep there ya go if NHRA was able to pump it they probibly gave him the benifit of the dought on many many tries finaly they were convinced something was wrong and they wanted the head off NHRA dont bust your balls for no reason they will give you the benifit of the dought before going to extreme measures and keeping you in check

I seem to remember hearing that someone did purchase the right stuff for D1.. that being said, why wouldn't NHRA now have the same equipment after learning that it was a necessary item from D1??.. maybe it's just another case of the LEFT not knowing what the RIGHT is doing.. I mean the coasts, Dave... LOL!!

HEy the guy flat out was cheating on 2 counts first of all he had a 745 ci and claimed 727 ci so when they came to pump him he chill the engine to 30 degrees and u cant pump an engine under normal temp so nhra said no problem pull the head and he went off on the nhra officials not to tell you his top sportsman delay box was in the car so he was leaving off the top bulb so this guy is going on vacation for a while

Vinny, your way out of line on this one, If Ross motor was a 745 then it is a piece of shit motor So I for one give Ross a thumbs up for telling them he was not going to pull a head. NHRA should be able to pump a guy that has a motor 700 Ci Besides Ross only runs Comp once or twice a year and before that he went faster with a 711CI Look at all the past

Bobby i am not out of line these are the facts NHRA went around tellin the competors who they were gonna pump so they can get ready, gary called sonny and he told him to chill the motor and he did knowing it canot be pumped correctly at 30 degrees, and by the way that pump nhra was using is good up to 790 ci and its on sonnys web site as a 745 gary ross and it is not a competive A/AA motor, you think us true NHRA racers have junk we are the real deal in Comp, everyone of our comp guys bust there ass and spend big money they dont run top sportsman then run comp with the same combo gary has nothing more than a fast top sportsman car, not a fast Legal Comp car, so you take it how you want too he knew wat he was doing he figure im not fast i can probbly get away with it let me roll the dice but he came up snake eyes, and thats ok we have a pretty tuff bunch of legal racers in our eliminator we dont need part timers to come in and make our tech guys crazy o and by the way the pumps are calibrated at 70 degrees at the factory and work great between 120 and 180 degrees
