I high-jacked this off the Brainerd thread, just to discuss this outrageous accomplishment.

First off, 7.5 X 320? = 2400 - 200 for auto = 2200 , so 2250 to be safe. The rest of the Comp and Prostock world are out to lunch....anybody got any idea's as to what they are doing? It seems physically impossible to move that much weight, with a little motor , with an automatic, no less.....mind blowing....989 60'.

Rob I believe its 250# for automatic = 2150, 2200# to be safe.

My first thought is....how many times has this been done? Then if more than once at several tracks then Charlie has his stuff together. If its only once or twice then I would have to say its something goofy with the clocks.

ROB
I CAN BELIVE IT we have gone sub 1.00 on several diffrent tracks and go 1.00 to 1.02 almost every where we go

just food for thought

With our B/ED that weight 1425 lb we normaly out 60 ft ever car in comp . We have gone .985 one or two times .Our C/D can go 1.00 at times but rarely it weight is 1500 lb . I belive 109 60 ft is very good for a car that weight as much as a D/AA . We took the same B/ED added more gear and 180 lbs to run C/DA could only go 102 in killer air . Weight is the reason we went to a smaller motor , less weight 60 ft and 330 better . I can`t say it is impossible , but very good combo is all I can say .

John,

Are you not in C/AA....regardless, 1.00 is good in that class, good in any class, but it's the .990 in D, that I can't get my head around. I shouldn't say that, it's got my head stuck in the sand, just look at how bad the rest of us are missing the set up.

A .989 can be a representative run for any given Prostock, on any track, and qualify, let alone alone a 2200 lb. 850 HP small block ,with an automatic in it.

The longer I do this, the less I know......

Rob as i said in the brainard post charlie has 4 good guys over there what one misses the other catches.plus charlie works with the penskie boys.i look at charlies operation as a professional comp operation the only way to go if you want to be good as them?they got their act together .i
mean they have their good and bad days like all of us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the automatic and torque multiplication have something to do with the automatic cars 60 footing better but stiill... WOW!

Shane ,I know your lying I saw your keyboard move, and I was there. When are you getting to Kennedale?

Brandon,

So are we to presume, that a Prostock with an automatic, would be faster in 60'.....I hope not, but it is looking that way. That would be a sad day when all the Pro's showed up with automatic's in....now I know that the Bowdish's would be happy campers, but it can't happen.....no way, not legal, not allowed, period.

The most I could stomach would be a Bruno with a Liberty.....

Maybe Sunday if we go...... We will be in Crandall for the IHRA divisional.Brooke in a "points chase" with Harold,Benham and Williams for the IHRA division championship about 40 points between them all.........Should be fun! BTW GREAT job Chris Dodd on your win in Lufkin,Yall did a great job!

Brandon is right about the torque multiplcation i took a 5 speed out of my street roadster A/SR the next week put a 3speed auto in for B/SR it didnt 60 no better but it felt like it had 100 more horsepower? and felt like it was on marbles.

Vinny,

This whole auto being faster than a stick, is new to what I have always understood. If this is true (and I am holding my belief in this) then it is some new technology in convertors. Suffice to say that those boys with that D/AA would do some pretty hateful job, if they put a clutch in it...

I believe its in the convertors. now days stalling at @88/89 hundred vs.the old days 8000?and if charlie put a stick in he would be a 103to105 car.i dont have todd Pattersons #s here but i dont think his E/A aka D/A is better than 103 0n his 850 runs? Well i am off to reading talk to you later!!!!!!!!!!!

I have seen the same thing with B/A vs. B/AA in the split sheets. The auto's seem to be 2 to 4 quicker in 60 but I think the sticks pick some back up after the 330, or at least mine does.

I thank God that NHRA don`t let the auto cars take out 150 lbs and run the stick classes . Like they have done in the past . If they did the clutch cars would`nt have a chance . If you could get one of these new converter`s in front of a liberty 5 speed it would fly .

Is a Liberty, hooked to a Bruno, considered an automatic? Better question, is it legal in D/AA, or do you have to run it in the stick class, D/A ? By the flavor of this discussion, we are all going to be putting our clutches under the bench....we get to keep the 5 speeds.

I know that when Jim Van Cleve was running Comp back in the day, that he would consistently 60' under 1 second. I believe he has that motor still hanging in the shop!! Sub 1 second is doable with a clutch Rob....don't give up on the gears!! Just as the convertors are better, I believe that the clutch technology is better too.....there is always more than one way around the barn.
clink clink...
my .02 hitting the floor......
