It would be my luck for there to be a buntch of the outlaw pro mods for the 20 th also . Some of them run a lot faster than a AA/AT . I wish him good luck .

We are totally out gunned but this is FUN!! Just went 6.42@226,our new personal best....

To give you guys a look at how fast these guys run,Brad Personett just went 6.08@250 ON 10.5 TIRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who runs a 17inch tire on a super mod with a 300 ci engine
Chris Lamb
Mabey i should have said it like this . It is hard for me t belive a car can run that fast on a 10.5 in tire . I know they do even with trac control it will be walking around a lot at 250 . We have gone 199 on a 12 in tire if we could go faster on a bigger tire we would . The guys that run a tire that size would`nt have the big tire if it was`nt fast . I am sure not going to put up any names but i have seen a 17 in tire on a small motor . Dont know the eng size in inches but small .

I've run both a 14.5 and a 17" tire never a 10.5" the race pak looks like a hula dancer with the smaller tire but not so with the 17" and I only have 135" motor.

I don't believe a wider tire hooks better, if you have a fixed weight %, you reduce the PSI with a wider tire and compromise tire speed. David Janes of the ADRL has always made us aware of this, but the 1st one to tell us about it was Don Ness.....Bigger is usually not better......or maybe not faster, would be the way to say it.

Titan motorsports and Billy Glidden have both been in the .940's or .960's to the 60 on the same tire. Both lower HP cars (186ish inch inline 6 and 500 inch on some nitrous) Dan Millen run 3.78 to the 1/8 with it. So the tire has plenty of potential to be very quick.

When a tire quits hooking at all and we have had that happen go back and look at your last 10 runs . The last thing that hurts with a worn out tire is the 60 ft . It takes a few runs to get a tire working ,that is why we run them so long .But sometimes you put the tire on and its fast the first run . You just never know with a tire . Back years ago with the old goodyear 1288 tire it took about 8 or 9 runs to get them working like the old worn out tire .

My guess is because the super mod doesn't have traction control.

Billy Williams

Brad Personett absolutely does not run traction control.
The GSA Series does not allow it, and he certainly is not running it for a single event.

I'd say it is probably unfair to call Titan Motorsports a lower HP car... I believe Gary's Career Best ET is at least 189 mph at the 1/8th.

Looks like I may be wrong, his best may only be 186 mph, but still hardly a low HP car, even for that class. Yea, there are a couple of 200 mph players, but he still falls about dead middle in order of hp in his class.

We have been running a 17" tire but we are going to try a 10.5"W tire. We've been 1.04 in the 60' with the 17" tire. By the way the 10.5W tire actually measures 12" at the tread.

I would bet the only person with less power than titan is Glidden. Those big nitrous motors are making 2500+, and the big turbo and screws are making over 3000.
