Looking at the Nitromater "Enders out" post made me check out the P/S entry list and noticed Kenny Korrettsky entered in Pheonix.
It will be interesting to see if the Ford will keep up. They are alittle behind in Engine HP and they have a Areo Dynamic disadvantage over the Pontiacs and Dodges..
Toyota might not be a bad idea for Pro Stock right now.
Why's that ?
Thank goodness its not a Toyota
Why's that, Tom? What's so wrong with the thought of that? Any money coming into the class from GM or Mopar? Nascar didn't seem to mind taking it, and they're not doing too badly in that series. If my info is correct.......Toyota might be making a Pro Stock debut in 2010. They've been in development for 2 years for this very class. I don't think they're going to allow turbos or V-6's; that's not realistic and I wouldn't want the class to come to that anyway.
GM and Dodge are done spending money on TF and PS. So I think NHRA needs to decide quite soon....keep the manufacturer part numbers or go after-market.
Toyota will spend money on the part number side, see NASCAR. I don't want it all yet that might happen. Or NHRA needs to open up the block/cylinder head side to the aftermarket crowd like DART, Brodix etc. I really think PS isn't screwed now..yet soon if rules aren't changed to let aftermarket suppliers into the mix, teams will be forced to use only active or wanting to be active OEM's. Since GM and Dodge are gone, that leaves Ford's marginal involvement now and the foreign manufacturers in the near future if aftermarket isn't allowed to be involved.
Theoretical situation, in a couple years GM and Dodge are still out of drag racing and NHRA is looking for someone to take the place of GM, Toyota steps in with the requirement V-6 with hair driers are required yet throws NHRA alot of money. It might happen where NHRA PS is forced to turn into the import class. That would really suck, yet it might happen.
