My thread was not about the personal index but about the wining on the forum about who is quicker than you.
I know you weren't relating to the personal index idea, but everyone has already vented what they thought about the WHINING on the forum, and you sir, are a bit late.

Well, maybe not. Hell, it's only been a couple of days.

4 - Comp has always been the ultimate performance/ thinker/ tough guy/ ass kicker horsepower class - it's what keeps most of us chasing this sh*t.

5 - Is it perfect? No, but with proper tech and rule enforcement for all it could be better. This weekend our tech guy pumped half the field, checked wheelbase and other items to keep people honest.(not that anybody in comp is dishonest)

6 - If you think somebody' combo is bogus, grow some nads, put up the money and have it taken apart. If the guy's legit - he'll be happy to keep your money, if he's not, you get your money back and get to smile.

7 - Be happy comp is still around to be able to race, this sh*t is never going to be worth what you paid for it so get over it. Just like buying a new car and driving it off the lot.

8 - Work with NHRA to eliminate "grey areas" in the rules. Clearly define what transbrake switches are legal, lockup converters, electric timer shifters, etc.

9 - Hard work and dedication are supposed to be a virtue in this country, comp is no different, nobody is gauranteed a .70 under class, work hard at it just like Carter with his BND that everybody said wouldn't go .55 under and look for results.

10 - Any type of competitive motorsport is going to cost a fair amount of money, karts, boats, roundy-rounds, sprints, road race etc. - pick one and give it your best shot. Drag racing - especially comp is no exception.

11 - I don't have alot of money to piss off on comp and even less brains but since I went to Fremont Raceway in 1977 and saw comp run, I knew that someday that is what I wanted to do.

12 - Get back to working on your sh*t - quit reading this garbage and wear somebody' ass out next time.
We all need to read this post again,,,,as a closing note on 2007...Happy New Year.

Ditto

I have never posted here but after reading this post I am compelled to do so.

There are only two classes that have my unwavering and highest respect. Pro Stock and Comp Eliminator. They are the last classes in Drag Racing where technology and hard work rules. Allen Freese post was a breath of fresh air. The thing most Comp guys don't understand is that the rest of the racers and NHRA management don't have a clue what goes into these cars or the total dedication it takes to running fast and winning races. Its like my dad once said. "The only reason why guys don't go as fast as they can is they don't give it everything they got". 99.99999% of people don't understand what," everything you got" means. Live around Comp or Pro Stock racers for a while and they will understand what that means.

Normally aspirated engines have only two places where technology and hard work lives on to bread ever faster and more efficient engine combinations.
Pro Stock and Comp Eliminator.

There is nothing more common than unrewarded genius. Comp racers know this better than most.

Great Thread!

I like this thread, I agree with what Darrin said above 100%. Pretty much this whole thread sums it all up. I hope you guys dont boot me out since im not a comp racer anymore. Do I get points for being one a long time ago? I promise I'll do my best to try and fit in here.

Nick

P.S. Look Darrin we only have Jr. Dragster status.
